The annual fuel utilization efficiency attempts to represent the actual, season-long, average efficiency of that piece of equipment. For example, a 90% AFUE for a gas furnace means it outputs 90 BTUs of useful heating for every 100 BTUs of Natural Gas input (where the rest may be wasted heat in the exhaust). A higher AFUE means higher efficiency.
Let's talk money now, say your furnace is 80% AFUE and it costs you $500 to heat your home this winter. That means only $400 actually went towards heating your home and $100 burned up going out your chimney. That is a problem that could costs you thousands. Now lets say you wanted to switch to a Heil QuietComfort furnace that is 97% AFUE. Say you spent that same $500 to heat your home, this time $485 went towards heating and only $15 went out your chimney. That is a savings I could live with! Contact us now to start your savings.
The Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio rating of a unit is the cooling output during a typical cooling-season divided by the total electric energy input during the same period. The higher the unit's SEER rating the more energy efficient it is. For example by upgrading from SEER 13 to a Heil QuietComfort two-stage air conditioner with a SEER 19, the power consumption is reduced by more then 30% It is claimed that this can result in an energy savings valued at up to $300 per year depending on the usage rate and the cost of electricity. R-22 is a common refrigerant that is currently being phased out in the U.S. due to its very high potential to deplete the ozone. Since 2010, the agency has also banned sale of new air-conditioning units containing the compound. That means if your current A/C system containts R-22 the price per pound will continue to grow. From the years 2010 to 2011 the price has doubled, from 2011 to 2012 it has doubled again! What is in store for 2013? Don't find out, switch to a new A/C system with R-410a (Puron) and stop paying to much for freon. Contact us now to start your savings.
